Crosscurrent
C R O S S C U R R E N T • C O W L
Crosscurrent is a modern, graphic cowl that plays with movement and contrast, creating a fabric that feels timeless with a contemporary edge. Crisp lines flow diagonally across the surface, echoing the meeting of opposing currents and giving the design its distinctive sense of motion.
Knit flat on the bias, Crosscurrent begins at the top left corner and grows through carefully placed increases and decreases. Worked with two contrasting shades of sport weight yarn, the mosaic-style colorwork is intuitive, engaging, and a joy to knit – working one color per row. After blocking, the cowl is seamed using mattress stitch for a smooth, nearly invisible finish.
The result is a lightweight, versatile cowl that layers effortlessly and adds a bold yet wearable statement to everyday outfits.
Why You’ll Love This Knit
• Eye-catching modern colorwork
• A rhythmic, easy-to-remember stitch pattern that’s relaxing to knit
• Thoughtful construction with clean lines and visual movement
• Lightweight and perfect for layering across all seasons
• Includes both written and charted instructions
Crosscurrent is a satisfying project for knitters who appreciate modern design, clever details, and the slow, rewarding reveal of pattern, texture and color as the fabric unfolds.
